DIABETIC FOOT ASSESSMENT
Comprehensive neurological and vascular checks to safeguard foot health
A thorough diabetic foot assessment helps detect early nerve changes or circulation deficits, allowing us to protect your feet and prevent serious long-term complications
ABOUT THE SERVICE
What is a diabetic foot assessment?
Diabetes can affect nerve sensitivity (neuropathy) and blood flow (vascular health) in the lower limbs, sometimes without obvious symptoms.
An annual diabetic foot assessment uses specialized diagnostic tools to evaluate sensory perception, peripheral pulses, and skin integrity.
By identifying subtle changes early, your podiatrist can establish a risk profile and put protective preventive strategies in place.

WHEN IT MAY HELP
When should you schedule a diabetic foot check?
A diabetic assessment is recommended annually for all individuals diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, or sooner if you notice:
- Numbness, tingling, or burning in the feet
- Cold feet or changes in skin colour
- Slow-healing cuts, blisters, or red spots
- Loss of sensation or feeling when walking
- Changes in foot shape or joint stiffness
Annual checks are vital preventive medicine.
A routine assessment helps keep you active and prevents unexpected foot ulcers.
YOUR APPOINTMENT
What happens during a diabetic assessment?
Our checks are painless, non-invasive, and carried out with meticulous clinical care
Vascular check
We assess peripheral arterial pulses and skin temperature using Doppler ultrasound where required.
Neurological testing
Monofilament and vibration testing check nerve sensitivity across key protective pressure points.
Dermatological review
We check for pressure calluses, fungal infection, or subtle skin breakdown.
Risk stratification & report
We determine your risk category and provide a clear summary report for your medical records.

WHAT TO EXPECT
What does the appointment actually involve?
You will be seated comfortably while your podiatrist uses small touch-sensitive probes (monofilament) to touch light points on your feet.
The tests are completely pain-free and feel like light touches or gentle vibrations.
Your clinician will explain each step as it happens and discuss your risk status right away.
