CHILDREN’S FOOT HEALTH
Foot, ankle or walking concerns in your growing child?
Foot, ankle and lower limb conditions in growing children and adolescents can lead to severe pain, posture issues, and difficulty participating in sports. Our podiatrists provide gentle, specialised paediatric assessments to help young feet grow healthily

COMMON SYMPTOMS & CONCERNS
Does your child experience any of these?
Children don't always complain of pain directly — sometimes discomfort shows up in how they walk, run, or play:
- Complaining of sore feet, ankles, or legs after school or sports
- Frequent tripping, clumsiness, or unusual fatigue when walking
- Walking on tiptoes or with feet turning inwards (in-toeing / pigeon-toed)
- Noticeably flat arches or ankles rolling inwards
- Pain around the heel bone (Sever's disease) or knee (Osgood-Schlatter)
- Reluctance to join in physical activities or active play
Many paediatric foot concerns respond quickly to early, gentle intervention.
We make visits friendly, reassuring, and stress-free for both child and parent.

UNDERSTANDING THE CAUSES
What may be affecting your child's feet?
Because children's bones and growth plates are constantly developing, lower-limb concerns have distinct causes:
Growth plate irritation
Rapid growth spurts can pull on developing bone attachment sites like the heel (Sever's disease).
Developmental flat feet & hypermobility
Flexible joints or low arches can cause muscles to overwork during walking and running.
Structural alignment variations
In-toeing, out-toeing, or leg length differences alter how body weight is distributed.
School & sports footwear
Unsupportive or outgrown shoes can compress toes or strain developing arches.
WHEN TO SEEK ASSESSMENT
When should you get your child's feet checked?
Consider scheduling a paediatric foot check if:
- Your child regularly complains of leg, heel, or foot aches
- You notice limping, uneven shoe wear, or awkward walking
- Pain is causing them to stop playing their favourite sports
- They have painful ingrown toenails, warts, or skin irritation
- You want peace of mind about their lower-limb development
